The only difference was they had stopped pulling. He showed me why, on an old Tibetan page.

He drew it with one finger.

First a line. That's you. The line your good things travel down to reach you: the money, the lucky break, the phone call.

Then a cord, looped around the line and pulled tight.

He called it a Karmic Knot. Three things about it.

One. Other hands tied it. Not yours. Whose, and why, matters less than you'd think. What matters is where it sits. On you. Not in you. It was never yours.
